3 Tips for the BEST Senior Portrait Experience! Fort Collins Senior Portraits
Fort Collins, CO is where I call home so maybe I’m a little partial to how much I love this town! Can you believe ALL of these photos were taken at the same location? Arapaho Bend Natural Area is a stunning location and it was the perfect choice for Emma’s senior portraits. When thinking about your senior portraits here are a few tips I recommend to all of my seniors.
Have you ever heard the quote “to thine own-self be true’ well Shakespeare said it best! This is SOOO important when thinking about your session. For instance, choose clothing that compliments your features and you are comfortable in makes sense. If you never wear something and then decide on that for your senior portraits you’ll probably look back and cringe. I LOVE how Emma stayed true to herself and style here in these images! The outfits are a perfect choice for her and the colors really bring out her features. I am always happy to collaborate with you when choosing what you’ll wear for your session.
Location is HUGE! If you LOVE to be in a city and feel most alive in an urban environment then don’t choose a natural area for your portraits. Again be true to yourself and think about who YOU are and what YOU love. Emma loves the outdoors and we were able to use that love directly in the locations we chose to shoot at. If you’d like to have a combo of urban and natural I’m happy to accommodate that as well just plan ahead and we can make time for both!
Let’s talk hair and makeup! For the guys make sure you get a haircut about 1-2 weeks prior to your session for the perfect look on the day we shoot your portraits. Ok gals, I LOVE makeup! I do recommend that you go with a natural look that’s not overdone for your portraits. I’d also recommend you don’t use a powder foundation as this can reflect in your photos. Bring blotting papers if you tend to get oily and also make sure to bring a lipstick or gloss for touch ups! If you can swing it, get your hair and makeup done for your session it’s always a plus and a super fun way to start your day!
