The "Golden Hour" and why it matters! By Northern Colorado Portrait Photographer
We’ve all had those moments before an important event like a family photoshoot where literally everything falls apart. Ladies and gents, I’m here to tell you things aren’t always easy for me to get those perfect family portraits of MY OWN FAMILY either! Yes these are my two step kiddos and I’m their bonus momma. This year instead of the “why do we have to take MOOORREE pictures” I got them to loosen up before the shoot. I made sure to still have the session during the golden hour because no matter what kind of silly attitudes they threw my way I knew the lighting would be spot on. The golden hour is one hour before sunset or the first hour after dawn (who is up that early). The lighting is so magical and warm that taking a bad photo is actually tough. I knew the little alley way within walking distance from our home and the promise of ice cream afterwards would be the perfect combo for real smiles and hopefully a great session. I made sure I had even memorized a few 4th and 5th grade approved jokes to lighten the mood. As you can see here family portraits don’t have to be long and drawn out, they simply must be well planned! Let’s collaborate and come up with what I know can be an amazing session for your kiddos too!
